Provided Workshop to the TCNJ Bonner ESL Teachers
March 26, 2013 I was asked to present a workshop with one of my colleagues from the ESL department at TCNJ. This workshop was designed to support the Bonner Scholar volunteers that teach ESL courses to adults at El Centro Community Center in Trenton, NJ. These adults are foreign speakers looking to obtain US Citizenship and jobs. Our mission was to educate the Bonner volunteers with strategies and techniques they can use to improve their ESL students' oral communication, pronunciation, and listening comprehension in their classes.
My Trip to the Columbia Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project 82nd Reunion
It was an honor to attend the Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project conference at Columbia University in New York. I attended various workshops including How to Help Struggling Writers, Tips to Successful Guided Reading, and Launching the Kindergarten Writer's Workshop. At the end of the day I was lucky enough to meet Lucy Calkins and hear about the new manuals coming out in March 2013!
