This writing mini lesson for the Trenton 2nd grade class was on Procedural writing in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.  After doing many themed read alouds of leprechauns, students were asked to make a leprechaun trap to try to ‘catch’ a leprechaun on St. Patrick’s Day.  Before constructing the traps, the students had to write a procedural plan for how they were going to design and make their traps.  They brainstormed a list of transition words and were asked to use them in their procedural writing.
