This lesson was based on the story Pancakes for Breakfast by Tomie dePaola. I especially love this story because it only has pictures, no words! I asked the students, "What do you notice about this story? Why is it different from other stories we have read? Do you think the author forgot to put in the words or do you think he did this on purpose?" The students enjoyed making predictions and looking at picture clues.
